Worship

It's Sunday, May 24th. Do you go to church? Although I don't watch the news, I heard that our president considers churches, mosques, and temples to be essential and governors of each state need to open them up, so folks can gather and worship.

I agree. Evelyn Beatrice Hall stated: "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." I feel the same way about the concept of 'worship.' Although I was raised with religion, my concept of worship looks different now.

It's more in alignment with the song Karen Drucker sings:

My religion is kindness

My church is nature

My god is a feeling

that lives deep inside

My job is to be conscious

My path is forgiveness

My religion is kindness

and I practice it everyday.

In holding space for everyone to worship in a way that feels right to them, we are honoring our multidimensionality, too. Doesn't that feel expansive?

Today, I will be worshipping according to the dictates of my own heart. I may be singing Karen Drucker...or something by the Grand Slambovians.

Their song 'Invisible' is another powerful piece that I love. Here's part of the chorus:

I'm so happy You are here with me...

I'm so happy You are here with me.

Whenever I feel afraid,

I close my eyes and pray

And I enter the Invisible with You.

Do you have a favorite hymn?

A favorite song?

Maybe you have a favorite ritual or prayer?

Meister Eckart said, "If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough."

I will be outside. Singing in nature and giving thanks for this amazing time to be alive.
